Fatal Early Morning Crash on Van Buren Street in Thermal

 
THERMAL, CA (January 19, 2019) – One person was killed following a two-car crash early Saturday morning in Thermal, according to Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire Department.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:10 a.m. at the intersection of Van Buren Street and Avenue 62.
 
A gray Nissan Frontier and an unknown sedan were involved. While the cause of the crash has not yet been determined, one of the cars overturned on its roof due to severe impact.
 
One occupant in the overturned car was reportedly unresponsive when first responders arrived. The patient was rushed to a hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, the victim was declared dead.
 
The identity of the deceased was not immediately available pending next of kin notification.
 
Authorities are still tracking down other witnesses and 911 callers to get their accounts of the deadly incident.
