THERMAL, CA – Fatal Pedestrian Crash at Grapefruit Boulevard and 58th Avenue

Pickup Truck Fatally Struck Elderly Pedestrian in Thermal

 
THERMAL, CA (January 23, 2019) – A fatal pedestrian crash was reported Wednesday morning at an intersection in Thermal.
 
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol, emergency crews were sent to the intersection of Grapefruit Boulevard and Avenue 58 around 11:05 a.m.
 
The pedestrian was struck by a red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and was airlifted to a hospital, where the individual was pronounced dead.
 
The deceased was described as elderly, but the person’s name, gender, age and town of residence were not immediately known.
 
Avenue 58 was shut down to traffic until around 1:45 p.m.
 
The fatality was being investigated as an apparent suicide, sheriff’s officials said. Further investigation is underway.
