South Kitsap Firefighter Hit by Vehicle while Sleeping near Deer Creek Canyon Park

MALIBU, CA (November 15, 2018) – A firefighter from South Kitsap Fire & Rescue was injured early Thursday morning after he was struck by a pickup truck near Deer Creek Canyon Park. The victim was later identified as 46-year-old Terry Geiselman, a resident of Gig Harbor.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened along Pacific View Drive, shortly after 12:00 AM. Geiselman was sleeping in a field next to a fire truck when a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 drove over him.

The firefighter suffered severe injuries to his chest and left side and was airlifted to Los Robles Medical Center for treatment and evaluation. Further updates on his current medical condition were not immediately available. Meanwhile, the 50-year-old Los Angeles man driving the pickup truck remained and cooperated with investigators.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
