14-Year-Old Boy Dead in Reno Motorcycle Accident
RENO, NV (May 14, 2019) – A 14-year-old boy died following a mini bike and car collision on Yori Avenue on May 11.
The incident occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on May 10 on Yori Avenue and Bresson Avenue. According to investigators, the teen biker was heading north on Yori Avenue and didn’t yield at the stop sign. After that, he crashed with the vehicle that had the right of way.
According to the officers, they found the boy lying on the sidewalk. Medics transported him to Renown Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Saturday.
Authorities ruled out alcohol as a factor in the collision. Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene.
Moreover, witnesses revealed that the teen rode recklessly in the area. Authorities are seeking information and encouraging anyone to contact the Reno Police Traffic Office at 775-334-2141.
“The Reno Police Department would like to remind the public that the operation of any motorcycle/scooter/mini-bike requires a valid class C drivers license if it is being operated on the city streets,” a police statement said. “Although a helmet is only required if the engine is over 50 cc’s (cubic centimeters) it is highly encouraged to always wear a helmet regardless of the size of the motorcycle/scooter/mini-bike.”
