17-Year-Old Boy Killed in Rio Linda Motorcycle Crash by Heritage Peak Charter School
RIO LINDA, CA (September 11, 2019) – A 17-year-old boy died following a motorcycle crash in Rio Linda on Saturday, September 7.
The crash occurred shortly before 3 a.m. in the Heritage Park Charter School parking lot near M Street and 6th Street. According to California Highway Patrol, the boy rode a motorcycle in the dirt field near the parking lot.
Officers reported that the motorcycle did not have a headlight and the teen didn’t wear a helmet.
At some point, the motorcycle collided into a hitching post in the field. The impact ejected the boy onto the parking lot asphalt.
The boy sustained major head trauma, according to officers. He died at the scene minutes after the crash, CHP said.
The identity of the deceased it not immediately available. No other individuals were involved in the crash, the news release stated.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. CHP said that drugs or alcohol were not factors in the collision.
