Teen Bicyclist Transported in Accident on Alvarado Street [Oxnard, CA]

Oxnard, CA (February 18, 2025) – A teen bicyclist was injured following an accident on Alvarado Street Monday afternoon.

The bicycle crash happened past 1 p.m. at the intersection of Helsam Avenue in El Rio.

Officers said the 10 to 13-year-old bicyclist was traveling east and was not wearing a helmet. 

At the same time, a black Kia Optima traveling at about 25 mph was northbound on Helsam Avenue.

The Kia sedan tried to stop but the driver didn’t have enough time to completely stop and the rider struck the front of the car.

The teen was thrown from the bike.

Immediately, the bicyclist was rushed to an area hospital with major injuries including lacerations to his head and eye.

CHP Ventura-area office is investigating and stated that drugs and alcohol were not suspected to be a factor in the accident.
