Two People Injured in Car Crash with School Bus on Speyers Road

SELAH, WA (January 18, 2018) – A 2004 Pontiac Grand Am crashed into a school bus early Monday morning on the 2000 block of Speyers Road.

Yakima County Sheriff’s Office reports state that the Pontiac, driven by 20-year-old Te’a Zimmerman was traveling west on Speyers Rd, when colliding head-on into a school bus.

Authorities say that it was a foggy morning, and Zimmerman hadn’t cleared her windshield of frost and moisture. She was reportedly coughing when she swerved in the lanes, crashing into the front left side of the school bus.

The five children inside of the bus were left uninjured, and released to their parents. Zimmerman and the bus driver complained of neck pain and were taken to the Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital.

The bus had damage to the front, but was driveable. The Pontiac’s front wheel was torn away and it had to be towed from the scene of the accident. Zimmerman was issued citations, but no other charges were filed against her.

When driving in heavy fog, it is important to drive slowly and with your fog lights on. If conditions are too hazardous, it is safest to pull over and wait for better visibility.
