Tavea Tarlton Killed, Brandon Jaquez-Perez Arrested For Fatal San Bernardino DUI Crash

San Bernardino, CA (November 29, 2020) – On Friday, police arrested 23-year-old Brandon Jaquez-Perez for a DUI crash that left Tavea Tarlton, 31, dead.

The San Bernardino Police Department said Jaquez-Perez was drunk driving a Ford Mustang and ran a red light at University Parkway in San Bernardino.

Then, he broadsided a Toyota Camry driven by 31-year-old Bakersfield resident Tavea Tarlton.

Unfortunately, the Camry caught fire with four children inside, and Mr. Tarlton died.

Two of the children sustained life-threatening injuries. One had severe injuries, while another incurred moderate injuries. They are all from Bakersfield.

Later on, reports revealed that two of Tarlton’s children, 4-year-old Elizah and 2-year-old Farrow, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Tavea’s family with memorial expenses. Please donate here if you have the means.

Jaquez-Perez was also identified in the county jail log as Brandon Alan Jaquez and Brandon Alan Perez.

Subsequently, police arrested him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Furthermore, authorities held Jaquez-Perez at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Please call Detective Dan Acosta or Sgt. Jeff Harvey at 909-384-5792 if you have further details about the crash.
