Famous Racer Tanner Thorson Hurt in Modesto Car Accident

MODESTO, CA (March 5, 2019) – A multi-car accident along Highway 99 near East Hatch Road Monday left a well-known auto racer from Nevada injured.

According to reports, Tanner Thorson, 22, suffered a broken arm and foot in the 4 a.m. crash. Thorson crashed his 2019 Ford pickup truck when he encountered slower-moving traffic ahead. His truck was towing his Tri-C Motorsports sprint car, reports detailed.

Thorson’s Ford struck a 2015 Freightliner semi-truck, driven by 29-year-old Daniel Hernandez, of Merced. 54-year-old Joseph Lazzaroni, of Manteca, accompanied Hernandez in the truck as a passenger.

Subsequently, the Freightliner struck a 2016 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 30-year-old Bradley Hiler, of Hughson. One of the vehicles then struck a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, driven by 34-year-old Anthony Alves, of Merced.

As a result of the accident, the Freightliner overturned, and the pickup truck ruptured into flames.

Lazzaroni suffered minor injuries while Thorson – a 2016 USAC National Midget Series champion – suffered an injury to his arm and foot.

Reports did not specify if the other drivers required medical assistance.

Paying attention to the road ahead can minimize car accidents. Always focus your undivided attention to the road and keep a sufficient amount of space from the car ahead of you. With enough road space and time, you can respond readily to avoid car accidents.
