Bicyclist and Scientist Swati Tyagi Dies in La Jolla Accident

 
La Jolla, CA (June 25, 2021) – On Wednesday, a 34-year-old bicyclist Swati Tyagi died in a North Torrey Pines Road crash.
 
The fatal La Jolla crash took place at about 4:20 p.m., approaching La Jolla Village Drive.
 
Reports said the victim was riding in the right lane when she merged into the left lane. That is when she was rear-ended by a 74-year-old man driving a 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL500.
 
Unfortunately, Ms. Tyagi died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities are investigating the fatal crash. They do not suspect drunken or impaired driving as a factor in the deadly accident.
 
Swati Tyagi, a Salk Institute scientist and mother of an infant, was “a very humble person who was very friendly” and helped “everyone she could,” according to her brother-in-law.
 
She joined the Salk Institute in 2016 as a research associate, and won a women and science award in 2017.
