Crash on State Route 120 Killed 21-Year-Old SUV Driver

 
Napa, CA (August 1, 2020) – On July 31, 21-year-old SUV driver of Fresno dies in a car crash on State Route 120.
 
The fatal accident happened at around 10:41 a.m. when the 21-year-old 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV driver drove eastbound on State Route 120. He was on the east of Tulloch Road in the number 2 lane at a very fast speed.
 
At the same time, 41-year-old Robert Ellis of Redding was driving a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia Big Rig pulling a trailer. It was traveling eastbound on State Route 120, east of Tulloch Road in the number 2 lane, ahead of the SUV.
 
At some point, the SUV driver attempted to outrun Ellis’ vehicle, as a result, the right side of the SUV crashed into the Big Rig.
 
The SUV then moved directly in front of the Big Rig where a second crash occurred. Just then, both vehicles caught fire. Ellis was able to get away from the vehicle without any injuries. However, the SUV driver was unable to escape and died to his injures at the scene.
 
Authorities are still investigating the crash. Police said alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash.
 
Meanwhile, police closed eastbound lanes of State Route 120 for approximately 1 hour until one of the lanes was able to open up for traffic.
 
The police withheld the SUV driver’s pending notification to the family.
