Motorist Flees after Vehicle Overturns near Barona Road

LAKESIDE, CA (February 26, 2019) – A vehicle overturned early Tuesday morning following a fiery crash on Wildcat Canyon Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Barona Road, at about 2:45 AM. A 1995 Ford Mustang was traveling at a high rate of speed when it veered to the right, where it struck a raised concrete curb. The vehicle left the roadway, rolled over, and caught fire.

The Ford driver immediately fled the scene, and it is unknown whether or not they suffered injuries. A short time later, firefighters arrived and put out the fire.

Witnessed claimed that the Ford was involved in street racing prior to the collision. An investigation is ongoing to verify the statement and to identify other possible contributing factors. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the California Highway Patrol’s El Cajon office at (619) 401-2000. Further details will be released once they become available.

Never flee the scene and face the consequences of your actions. Challenging the law will only result in severe ramifications and penalties you could have avoided. By following driving laws and being careful when behind the wheel, you can keep yourself and others around you safe.
