1 Killed & 1 Injured in 2-Vehicle Collision Near Piezzi Road

SANTA ROSA, CA (December 12, 2018) – Early Wednesday morning, one person was killed and another was injured in an accident on Occidental Road. The deceased victim was identified as 34-year-old Firefighter Steven Pacatte of Monte Rio.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 5:30 AM near Piezzi Road. Officials stated that a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Pacatte, was traveling eastbound when it moved into the westbound lane to pass a garbage truck.

There, it collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet Suburban, driven by a female driver. Her identity has not yet been released. The woman suffered serious injuries and is reportedly in stable, but critical, condition.

First responders arrived at the crash site, cut both drivers out of the demolished vehicles, and rushed them to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Pacatte succumbed to his injuries on route to the hospital, and was pronounced dead by paramedics. A GoFundMe page was set-up to help Pacatte’s family with expenses. Click on the link to donate.

There was heavy fog at the time of the crash, which may have caused visibility issues. The road was closed down for a few hours, while clearing operations and preliminary investigation took place in the area. No further details have been disclosed to the public, as the investigation continues.

We express our deepest condolences to the bereaved loved ones of Steven Pacatte. He leaves behind his fiance, Colleen Bialas, who is expecting to give birth to their baby girl in February. May he rest in peace.
