55-Year-Old Tulare County Woman Hospitalized after Collision near North 2nd Street

PORTERVILLE, CA (September 18, 2018) – A woman was critically injured in a pedestrian crash on Putnam Avenue, late Tuesday afternoon. The victim was later identified as 55-year-old Stephanie Cooley of Tulare County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 4:00 PM, near North 2nd Street.

The victim was crossing the street in a designated crosswalk when she was hit by a 2017 Chrysler that turned south onto Second, driven by a 16-year-old boy without a driver’s license. Officers said that Cooley was seriously injured when they found her in the roadway, and she was airlifted to the Kaweah Delta Medical Center. She was listed in critical condition.

Drugs and alcohol were not considered to be contributing factors in the crash. Anyone with any information regarding the collisions is asked to contact Corporal Brett Calloway by calling 782-7408 or 782-7400.
