Injuries Reported in Riverbank Pedestrian Accident on West Gate Drive and Saxon Way
RIVERBANK, CA (December 15, 2023) – Thursday morning, a startling pedestrian crash on West Gate Drive and Saxon Way.
The incident occurred just before 8:00 a.m. on West Gate Drive and Saxon Way, said Sgt. Luke Schwartz, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, as a grandmother and her granddaughter walked to school, a car hit them, leaving them both in critical condition.
After the crash, the driver remained on scene and has been with investigators.
Sgt. Schwartz revealed that the 67-year-old grandmother and the 9-year-old granddaughter were both rushed to hospitals. Then, the girl was eventually transported to an out-of-county specialty hospital.
Reports said that the grandmother is out of surgery but is in critical condition in the ICU. Also, the girl was in critical condition.
Moreover, the authorities do not suspect that alcohol, drugs, and medicine played a role in the crash.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
