Startling DUI Crash on Cleveland Avenue and Highway 99 Injures 1 [Madera, CA]

1 Person Hurt in Madera DUI Accident on Cleveland Avenue and Highway 99

MADERA, CA (April 1, 2025) – Saturday morning, a startling DUI crash on Cleveland Avenue and Highway 99 injured one person.

The incident happened at around 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and the Highway 99 off-ramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a southbound white Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the raised median, a traffic control signal, and then struck a red Honda Accord stopped for a red light in the left lane eastbound on Cleveland Avenue.

Moreover, the force of the crash pushed the Honda into the left side of a white Chevrolet Traverse that was also stopped at the red light, causing both vehicles to roll over onto their sides.

Furthermore, responders transported the 22-year-old male driver of the Honda to a local hospital with minor injuries while the 53-year-old male driver of the Traverse sustained no injuries in the incident.

Also, officers managed to locate and arrest the driver of the 26-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet who fled the scene on foot, on suspicion of felony DUI and hit-and-run.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued investigating the crash.
