Smart Car Driver Dies in Highway 9 Collision [Lake Stevens, WA]

Lake Stevens, WA (April 9, 2025) – A male driver of a smart car was killed in a Highway 9 collision Tuesday morning.

The vehicle crash happened at 9:18 a.m. at the 700 block area of Highway 9 Southeast.

Responding officers said the driver of the Smart car was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Moreover, the driver and a passenger in the Honda minivan, both juveniles, were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police officers closed the freeway in both directions from 20th Street SE to Market Place while they investigated.
