35-Year-Old Sammamish Man Fatally Injured in Collision with Car near Sea-Tac Airport
TUKWILA, WA (June 21, 2018) – A man was killed late Thursday evening after his motorcycle collided with a stopped vehicle on State Route 518. 35-year-old Skyler Lee Atkinson of Sammamish, was later identified as the victim in this incident.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision took place shortly before 11:30 PM on State Route 518 near the Sea-Tac Airport.
Atkinson was heading eastbound on the highway at a high rate of speed when he was unable to slow down for stopped traffic ahead. He lost control of his motorcycle and rear-ended a stopped gray Toyota Camry driven by a 46-year-old Yakima woman.
Troopers and medics arrived at the scene and found Atkinson unconscious with life-threatening injuries. An ambulance transported the rider to the Harborview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by medical professionals. The driver of the Camry was reportedly unharmed in the collision.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the main cause of the collision, and no further details were immediately available to the public.
