LA MESA, CA (October 21, 2019) – A 25-year-old skateboarder suffered injuries after a pickup hit him on Spring Street on October 18.
The crash occurred about 9:20 p.m. on Spring Street near Finley Street, south of La Mesa Boulevard, La Mesa police Lt. Brian Stoney revealed.
Stoney added that the man rode a skateboard south in the right lane on Spring Street. Meanwhile, a southbound 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup on Spring Street hit him.
The collision threw the rider from his vehicle, rolled across the truck and landed on the asphalt. Responders took him to a hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Stoney added that evidence showed that the skateboarder “may have been under the influence of alcohol.”
The La Mesa Police Department’s traffic division is currently handling the crash investigation.
