Woman Riding Skateboard Hit, Injured by Car in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA (January 14, 2020) — A woman skateboarding suffered injuries in the Pacific Coast Highway crash near Lewis Street on Saturday.

Officers responded to reports around 10:25 p.m., near Poly High School. Upon arrival, police found a woman — a Long Beach resident — lying on the road with life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics immediately transported her to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle that struck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigations.

Long Beach California Police later discovered that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a contributing factor.

In their examination, officers believe the woman was skateboarding south on Pacific Coast Highway when the eastbound driver struck her.

However, because few details remain unclear, local officials plan to investigate the matter further. The identity of the female victim remains unknown.
