18-Year-Old Man Struck by Car at Intersection of North L Street and Portola Avenue

 
LIVERMORE, CA (July 8, 2018) – On Sunday evening, an 18-year-old man was seriously injured in a skateboard collision on Portola Avenue.
 
The incident occurred at around 7:00 PM between a skateboard and a 1997 Toyota Avalon. The skateboarder, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was crossing the road on his skateboard when he was struck by the Toyota. He was unconscious when officers arrived.
 
The unidentified teenager sustained major injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. There is no update on his current medical condition.
 
The driver of the car, a 34-year-old Fresno resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to police. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be involved in the collision, and police have also ruled out speed as a factor.
 
The incident is still under investigation, and any witnesses are urged to call Officer Pini with the Livermore Police Department Traffic Unit at (925) 371-4896.
