People Injured, Propane Leaked in Crash on Garden Drive

 
San Bernardino, CA (December 10, 2020) – On Wednesday, six people were injured in a crash on Garden Drive and Baseline Street.
 
The crash took place at about 9:30 a.m. which involved an SUV which SUV somehow ended up on top of a safety post. Next to a large propane tank at a U-Haul dealership.
 
As the first responders were on their way to the scene, 911 dispatchers received another call reporting that the fire extended to an adjacent storage unit.
 
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found an apartment unit in flames in the 1200 block of Garden Street.
 
Authorities said that during the crash, a propane tank was sheared off its foundation. As a result, the propane leaked toward the structures, which is approximately 30 yards away.
 
“As the propane went that way, for an unknown reason, the propane was ignited, causing fire on that side of the street,” said San Bernardino Police Department Sgt. John Echevarria. “There are two … residential structures that were burned.”
 
Firefighters were able to stop the blaze in about 40 minutes.
 
Furthermore, six people including four with burns were injured, while the other two suffered trauma.
 
As of the moment, there are no additional details on the extent of their injuries and conditions.
 
Meanwhile, rescuers rushed all six patients to hospitals, according to the Fire Department.
 
The authorities continue to investigate the incident.
