20-Year-Old Santa Rosa Junior College Student Fatally Struck by Dump Truck near Highway 12

SANTA ROSA, CA (October 30, 2018) – A dump truck was involved in a fatal bicycle accident on Stony Point Road, early Tuesday afternoon. The victim has been identified by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s office, as Sidney Falbo, a 20-year-old student at the Santa Rosa Junior College.

According to the Santa Rosa Police, the fatal collision took place around 12:40 PM, near the intersection of Highway 12.

As per witness statements, the 10-wheel loaded dump truck stopped at a green traffic light, waiting for a pedestrian to cross Stony Point on the south side of the intersection. The truck proceeded to turn right after the pedestrian had crossed, striking Falbo.

Traffic Sgt. Chad Heiser said that it is unclear where Falbo was coming from before the collision occurred. She was hit while heading east across Stony Point Road in or near the crosswalk at the Joe Rodota Trail. Falbo was pinned under the rear wheels of the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help family members with memorial expenses. Click on the link to donate.

The driver of the truck 58-year-old Donald Parisi, a resident of Sonoma, remained at the scene. Police stated that alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. All southbound lanes in the area were shut down for about seven hours, causing a large traffic backup in the area. The crash remains under an active investigation at this time.

Heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Sidney Falbo. May she rest in peace.
