Monroe, CA (February 27, 2025) – A shocking 3-vehicle crash on Highway 2 on Wednesday morning left people injured and traffic delayed.

According to authorities, the frightening crash happened around 9 a.m. on Highway 2 near Monroe.

Reports say that the three-vehicle collision involved a box truck carrying chemicals, officials say that the crash shut down all lanes of the highway

Authorities say that the crash occurred in foggy conditions just west of Fryelands Boulevard.

Officials say that the box truck, used for power washing, rear-ended a sedan, and both drivers pulled over to exchange information.

Moments later, a Subaru crashed into the box truck, pushing both vehicles into the truck’s driver, who was standing near the guardrail. The impact threw him 20 yards down an embankment.

Emergency responders, including an off-duty firefighter passing by, provided medical aid before transporting the box truck driver to Providence Regional Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Subaru driver sustained minor injuries, while the sedan’s driver was unharmed.

The crash caused a 50-gallon barrel of bleach and diesel fuel to spill onto the roadway. Firefighters and the Snohomish County hazmat team worked to contain the spill while crews treated the injured. Westbound lanes reopened by 11:45 a.m., and eastbound lanes followed at 1:30 p.m.
