68-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle near 12th Avenue NE

OLYMPIA, WA (November 4, 2018) – A woman was killed Sunday evening following a pedestrian crash on Lilly Road NE. The deceased victim was later identified by the Thurston County Coroner’s office as 68-year-old Shirley Sorrell, a resident of Olympia.

According to Lt. Paul Power, Sorrell was crossing the street in the 700 block of Lilly Road Northeast near 12th Avenue NE when she was struck by a southbound vehicle. It was reported that there is a crosswalk in the area, but that Sorella did not use it.

As per reports, Sorrell died en route to Providence St Peter Hospital. The driver, described as a woman in her 90’s, remained at the scene and cooperated with officials during their investigation. Her identity was not immediately released. Police said that she was not impaired at the time of the collision.

No additional information has been disclosed to the public, as the investigation continues.
