31-Year-Old Jerry Lyons Apprehended in Fatal Crash on Lake Merced Boulevard

San Francisco, CA (February 05, 2021) – On Thursday, a pedestrian died, while police arrested 31-year-old Jerry Lyons of San Francisco in a tragic multi-vehicle crash on Lake Merced Boulevard.

The deadly crash took place at about 8 a.m. on Higuera Avenue on the western edge of San Francisco State University.

Apparently, eight vehicles were involved in the crash.

One of the vehicles crashed with a 26-year-old man. Responders took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:45 P.M.

Furthermore, four other occupants of other vehicles sustained injuries from the incident. Rescuers took them to a hospital with non-fatal injuries.

Authorities arrested Lyons, who was also injured, on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter among other charges.

Officers said Lyons was driving a stolen 2003 Ford Explorer reported stolen in San Jose.

Moreover, authorities said Lyons was arrested in December 2020 for misdemeanor DUI and driving a stolen car. He was sentenced to a 60-day jail term for violating his supervised release.

DA’s office spokesperson said they requested blood toxicology results so they could bring a DUI case. They received the results on January 22 and began working with the CHP to pursue charges as they awaited Lyons’ arrest.
