MONTAGUE COUNTY, TX (December 30, 2024) – Sunday morning, Shelley Gene Jewell was killed in a brutal head-on crash on US 81.

The incident happened at around 5:23 a.m. on US 81.

According to reports, a southbound 2013 Kia Soul travelling in the northbound lanes, collided head-on with a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Moreover, responders pronounced the driver of the Kia, identified as 66-year-old Jewell, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe and a passenger to Medical City Decatur with non-incapacitating injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
