Sevak Korkotyan Killed, 2 Others Injured in DUI Crash on Highway 99 and Highway 180 [Fresno, CA]

Solo DUI Crash on Highway 99 and Highway 180 Kills Sevak Korkotyan and Injured 2 Passengers

 
Fresno, CA (August 3, 2020) – On Sunday, Sevak Korkotyan died and 2 others were severely injured in a DUI crash on Highway 99 and Highway 180.
 
Officers said a single car crashed into a wall at the highway connector and overturned before catching fire.
 
Authorities also said 29-year-old Sevak Korkotyan was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. As a result, Korkotyan was ejected onto the road and killed.
 
Moreover, rescuers found one of the injured passengers at the scene. Even so, they had to search for the other passenger who left the crash scene for unidentified reasons.
 
Police later found the crash victim, and they were treated at CRMC.
 
Meanwhile, investigators consider drugs or alcohol as a factor which may have caused the deadly crash.
 
Officers said the incident would have been far less tragic if the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
 
“Had the driver been wearing a seatbelt, it would have minimized his injuries,” says Mike Salas with CHP Fresno. “One of the passengers in this crash suffered moderate injuries, so this was a survivable crash. But due to the poor judgment of the driver, they were ejected from the vehicle.”
 
Additionally, three other cars collided in a small pile-up in attempts to avoid the accident scene. It caused a delay for several hours on Highway 99.
