Sergio Peralta Herrera of Nuevo Jailed in N Perris Boulevard Collision [Perris, CA]

Perris, CA (March 22, 2025) – 58-year-old Sergio Peralta Herrera of Nuevo was arrested following a N Perris Boulevard collision Saturday night.

It was just minutes before 9 p.m. when the deadly crash happened on the southbound lane of the highway.

Officers said a Perris man was standing in the No. 1 lane when a 2020 Ford Edge compact SUV driven by Sergio Peralta Herrera approached at an unidentified speed.

Officers said the driver slammed into the victim and fled to Ramona Expressway.

Immediately, the paramedics arrived at the scene and rendered aid to the critically injured pedestrian. The rescuers took the man to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley.

The authorities located Herrera on Dunlap Drive and Nuevo Road and arrested him without incident Thursday noon.

They booked him into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in great bodily injury. Herrera is being held on $25,000 bail.
