Pedestrian Fatalities in California

California had the highest number of pedestrian fatalities in 2017 (858).

As a driver, it’s important to always be aware of the fact that pedestrians have the right of way at any crosswalk or intersection. Thus, yield and be prepared to stop.

“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents. But the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
