Pedestrian Struck by Alleged Impaired Driver near South Spokane Street in Seattle

SEATTLE, WA (February 25, 2019) – An 86-year-old woman was seriously injured Tuesday morning, when she was struck in a DUI pedestrian accident on 15th Avenue South.

Authorities began receiving dispatch calls in the Beacon Hill neighborhood around 9:00 a.m. Witnesses described the pedestrian as an 86-year-old female walking south on 15 Avenue. As she crossed onto the northbound lanes, she was struck by a 48-year-old southbound driver.

According to reports, the vehicle was identified as a Ford Fusion driven by a 48-year-old man. First responders found his truck stopped on a nearby sidewalk, where he allegedly hit the pedestrian.

The victim was consequently brought to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Moreover, neither the driver nor his passenger were injured in accident.

Following preliminary investigation, officials drew a blood sample from the driver and determined he was impaired at the time of the collision. He was also booked into King County Jail on a vehicular assault charge.

Avoid driving under the influence for the safety of yourself and others on the road. In addition to being impaired, you are more susceptible to reckless and irresponsible driving. Furthermore, your sight and vision are compromised under the influence. Make the responsible choice, and find a safer way to get home.
