One Hurt after Rancho Mirage Multi-Vehicle Accident
RANCHO MIRAGE, CA (April 8, 2019) – The driver of a motorized scooter suffered injuries following a multi-car crash in Rancho Mirage on Tuesday, April 2.
The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 111 and Library Way. According to Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Randy Vasquez, officers rushed to the area just after 1 p.m. after receiving reports of the accident.
During their accident investigation, deputies found out that the rider of the scooter was traveling eastbound on Highway 111. Then she turned left onto Library Way against a red signal, Vasquez said. After that, a Nissan minivan struck the scooter and caused the rider to be thrown off the scooter. Subsequently, a Toyota SUV then struck the scooter a second time, Vasquez explained.
The woman riding the scooter sustained severe but non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics rushed her to an area hospital where they listed her in stable condition later on.
Vasquez said that the woman wore a helmet when the incident occurred. Authorities believe that alcohol and drugs were not contributing factors in the crash.
The other motorists involved in the incident remained at the scene. They cooperated with traffic officers in their investigation.
