Santiago Diaz-Cardenas Killed in Auto VS Fuel Tanker Accident in Petaluma

 
Petaluma, CA (August 23, 2020) – On Tuesday, the 75-year-old Santiago Diaz-Cardenas from Sonoma died in a two-vehicle crash on Pepper Road and Bodega Avenue.
 
A preliminary investigation confirmed Diaz-Cardenas was driving a Ford Explorer SUV traveling near Two Rock.
 
Officials said Diaz-Cardenas was stopped at a T-intersection on Pepper Road and Bodega Avenue, then, for an unknown reason, he turned into eastbound Bodega Avenue and drove directly into the path of a fuel tanker. The truck failed to avoid the smaller vehicle. The two vehicles crashed with each other.
 
The impact made the SUV drifted off the roadway and rolled into a dirt embankment.
 
Authorities pronounced Diaz-Cardenas dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities did not release immediate information on the truck operator, as they are still investigating the accident.
 
Furthermore, Diaz-Cardenas’ family started a GoFundMe link to raise money for funeral services.
