Scooter Rider Injured in Highway 12 Hit-and-Run Crash

 
Santa Rosa, CA (July 02, 2021) – On Thursday, a 51-year-old Santa Rosa man was injured in Highway 12 scooter crash.
 
The accident happened at around 3:30 A.M.
 
Apparently, the victim was eastbound on the highway on a 2006 JMStar 150 cc scooter.
 
Officers said he got onto the highway from Dutton Road and crashed with a pickup while attempting to enter the second lane at 40 mph.
 
The man was ejected from the scooter as it slid about 100 feet before it stopped in the right lane of the highway transition ramp.
 
When officers arrived, they located the victim unconscious and his open-face helmet was about 100 feet away.
 
Immediately, rescuers took him to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for major injuries.
 
Moreover, investigators said the scooter’s rear turn signals and brake lamp were taped on. Also, they mentioned that its registration expired in 2009.
 
Meanwhile, the suspect driver fled in a Nissan pickup, possibly a Titan or Frontier. It was last seen eastbound on Highway 12 and may have sustained minor damage in the crash.
