SAN LEANDRO, CA – One Killed in Two-Car Crash on 580 Freeway at Dutton Avenue

Fatal Afternoon Collision on 580 Freeway in San Leandro

 
SAN LEANDRO, CA (May 7, 2019) – One person was killed following a two-car crash Tuesday afternoon in San Leandro, CHP officials said.
 
Around 2:29 p.m., CHP officers responded to reports of the collision involving a white Ford Fusion and a tan Buick on 580 Freeway near the Dutton Avenue off-ramp.
 
Both cars traveled off the roadway down into an embankment, and one occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
A SigAlert was issued at 2:48 p.m., with no estimated time of clearing. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes.
 
The off-ramp reopened just before 5:45 p.m., with the alert lifted moments later.
 
No identifying information is being released at this time. The fatal crash remains under investigation.
