San Jose Woman Killed in Merced Avenue Accident [Merced County, CA]

Merced County, CA (August 8, 2024) –  A San Jose woman was killed in a Merced Avenue accident Tuesday night.

It was about 9:04 p.m. when the fatal collision happened north of Boss Road.

Investigators said a driver from Delhi was driving a northbound 2000 Ford F-150 pickup on Merced Avenue approximately 35 miles per hour. 

At the same time, the San Jose woman was walking north with her shopping cart on the right shoulder of Merced Avenue.

As the Ford approached the woman, the pedestrian turned in the path of the pickup truck. The Ford driver was not able to stop or swerve in time to avoid hitting the woman. 

Unfortunately, the woman was killed at the accident scene.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigating authorities and was determined not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

CHP is investigating this fatal crash.
