Deadly Single-Vehicle Wreck in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (January 7, 2019) – A man was killed, and a woman was seriously injured late Saturday when an SUV overturned and crashed on Highway 87 at the West Taylor Street off-ramp.
 
Officials responded to reports of an overturned SUV at 10:11 p.m.
 
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Ross Lee, the driver of an SUV informed investigators that he was heading northbound on the highway before he approached backed up traffic at the West Taylor Street off-ramp. The unidentified driver tried avoiding the line of cars by swerving but struck a sound wall at the interchange. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn, coming to rest on its side.
 
Although there were four or five people in the SUV, all of whom were wearing their seatbelts, a man in his 30s was killed and a woman in her 30s suffered critical injuries.
 
No one else in the SUV seemed to have suffered any injuries. Authorities are investigating the ultimate cause and circumstances of this collision.
