Jim Reed Involved in Three-Vehicle Crash that Critically Injured Five People on the Intersection of Gough and Bush Streets
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 20, 2018) – On Tuesday morning, five people were in critical condition after a three-vehicle collision that happened on the intersection of Gough Street and Bush Street.
The tragic incident took place shortly before 5:30 AM when a black sedan was headed east on Bush Street and ran a red light and crossed Gough Street, starting a chain reaction of collisions with two other cars, based on a preliminary investigation.
According to one of the victims, Jim Reed, the black sedan clipped the front of him and then crashed into the silver car, pushing it into the pole. A surveillance video showed two cars crashing into a light pole at the corner of the intersection. The third car involved was not seen in the footage.
Fire crews had to use the Jaws of Life tool to extricate the injured people from the vehicles, according to officials.
The five victims, who were not identified, were transported to the San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police did not immediately release the condition of everyone injured, but stated that everyone survived.
The intersection of Gough and Bush was shut-down until around 8:15 AM that same morning. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the series of crashes.
