67-Year-Old Woman Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on Imperial Avenue near San Jacinto Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 18, 2018) – A woman was seriously hurt after she was struck by a car on Sunday afternoon in the Valencia Park neighborhood.
Around 4:20 PM, authorities were alerted about a crash at the 5200 block of Imperial Avenue near Jacinto Drive. A 52-year-old man driving a Toyota sedan was going west on Imperial Avenue, when his car veered off a road and onto a sidewalk for unknown reasons.
The car crossed over all the lanes of traffic and drove upon the sidewalk, hitting the woman and seriously injuring her legs. The hit-and-run driver then attempted to flee from the scene, but was caught by responding officers.
It is not yet confirmed as to what charges may be filed against the driver, but authorities have already determined that alcohol or drugs appear to be involved in the crash.
