Driver Strikes Woman Walking Dog in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 29, 2018) – A woman walking her dog was seriously injured after being struck by a motorist Tuesday evening in the 3600 block of Ingraham Street near La Mancha Drive.

Around 5:45 p.m., a 68-year-old woman was reportedly walking her dog and attempted to cross eastbound on Ingraham Street in an unmarked crosswalk when a 1995 Mercury sedan traveling southbound struck her.

The woman was brought to a nearby hospital with serious injuries and her dog, who was also harmed, was brought to the San Diego Humane Society, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.

The 53-year-old man operating the Mercury remained at the scene and was questioned by officers. Police at the scene believe alcohol was not a factor in the crash but the San Diego Police Department’s traffic division is investigating this case further.

Pedestrian accidents typically happen when we aren’t paying attention. It is important that we pay attention to our surroundings and watch our speed when driving. Pedestrians are also urged to be leery of their surroundings and never assume any driver is a safe one.
