Late Evening Rollover Crash on 5 Freeway East of Highway 905 Ends in Fatality
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 12, 2019) – One person was killed following a rollover crash late Tuesday evening on a freeway connector ramp in San Diego.
The fatal crash happened around 11:13 p.m. on the southbound direction of 5 Freeway transition ramp to eastbound Highway 905.
A vehicle went up a slope, overturned and landed on its roof, CHP officials said. The San Diego Fire Department confirmed that a fire truck and ambulance were dispatched to the scene to handle the rescue operation.
Three other vehicles pulled over on the right shoulder, unknown if they were involved in the crash.
Sadly, one fatality was reported as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim was not immediately available pending next of kin notification.
A traffic alert was issued about 11:35 p.m., closing the ramp from southbound 5 Freeway to eastbound Highway 905 for unknown duration.
Details surrounding the collision were not made clear in the reports and media releases. The incident remain under investigation.
