Fatal Bicycle Collision in Long Beach

Long Beach, CA (November 14, 2022) – On Friday, 71-year-old Samuel Juarez of Long Beach sustained fatal injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Anaheim Street.

It was about 6:25 a.m. when the fatal incident took place in the area of Walnut Avenue while the victim was riding his bicycle.

“Through their preliminary investigation, detectives learned that the decedent was traveling northbound on a bicycle in the east crosswalk of Walnut Avenue at Anaheim Street when he was struck by a white sedan that was traveling westbound on Anaheim Street in the number one lane,” the authorities said in a statement.

The driver fled the scene the scene traveling westbound on Anaheim Street. 

Sadly, police report confirmed Samuel Juarez died Sunday.

Officers are investigating if speed, distracted driving or impaired driving were factors in the fatal crash. Also, the officers are investigating if the sedan driver ran a red light at the time of the accident.
