Tyler, TX (April 27, 2025) – Tyler PD Officer Sam Lively was killed after a motorcycle crash near Loop 323 on Friday evening.

According to the Tyler Police Department, the tragic accident happened around 6 p.m. on Troup Highway near Loop 323.

Reports say that the officer tragically died following a motorcycle crash Friday evening.

Authorities say that Lively was riding his motorcycle south on Troup Highway in the outside lane when another vehicle, traveling in the inside lane, changed lanes near Loop 323 and struck him. The impact ejected Lively from his motorcycle.

Emergency crews transported Lively to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Officer Lively had recently graduated from the police academy and had served with the department for just five months. An autopsy has been ordered, and a memorial escort will accompany him to a funeral home in Lindale.
