Four Teenagers Injured when Car Hits Tree near Angeli Road: Salvador Lopez, Jorge Gonzalez, Rebecca Andrade, and Felisa Vega
CLOVERDALE, CA (May 14, 2018) – Four Cloverdale teenagers were hospitalized after the vehicle they were in struck a tree, on Monday evening.
According to the CHP, the accident occurred around 6:10 PM on River Road near Angeli Road. The 16-year-old female driver was traveling southbound on River in a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu when, for unknown reasons, she lost control and swerved off the road.
The Chevy struck a tree and caught on fire as initial responders arrived at the scene, as stated by California Highway Patrol Officer Jon Sloat. Four passengers sitting in the car were injured and transported to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in multiple ambulances. The injured teens were identified as 15-year-old Salvador Lopez, 18-year-old Jorge Gonzalez, 17-year-old Rebecca Andrade, and 15-year-old Felisa Vega.
They were all reportedly wearing seatbelts and escaped from the car on their own. Injuries ranged from minor to moderate and the current condition of the victims has not been disclosed. The identity of the driver has not yet been released, but she could be facing violations of her provisional license.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident, but do not believe that drugs and alcohol were contributing factors. Speed is being considered. No additional information has been disclosed.
