Airbags Deployed in Afternoon 2-Car Crash on Highway 99 near Consumnes River Boulevard

SACRAMENTO, CA (April 10, 2019) – One person was hospitalized following a 2-car crash on Highway 99 Wednesday afternoon, in Sacramento.

The crash happened around 3:51 p.m., along the northbound lanes of the highway. Dispatchers arrived to the area at Cosumnes River Boulevard off-ramp soon after.

Furthermore, a silver Nissan Altima and a black Acura MDX collided for unknown reasons. Airbags were consequently deployed in the SUV due to the impact of the collision.

Paramedics immediately responded to the scene and took one patient to Kaiser Permanente Sacramento Medical Center for further treatment. He was reportedly suffering from head injuries. The identity and condition of the patient are unknown at this time.

Towing services were also eventually requested to remove both vehicles from the wreckage. The surrounding roadway was blocked off while crews worked to clean up the scene.

Authorities are still currently working on the incident and urging witnesses to come forward with information.

The majority of road crashes are often caused by speeding. Driving at high rates is always dangerous despite how clear the roads may seem. Oftentimes, other vehicles are unable to react in time to prevent a potentially serious crash.
