According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 2:30 PM on the 101 Freeway, near the Mill Creek Campground.

Officials stated that a Saturn sedan, driven by 45-year-old Miguelina Gonzalez, was traveling northbound when it crossed into oncoming traffic. There, it collided with a southbound Winnebago motorhome, driven by 60-year-old Paul Peeples of McKinleyville.

First responders arrived at the crash site and pronounced Ramirez, who was a passenger in the Saturn, dead at the scene. CHP reported that it was raining at the time of the crash, and stated everyone was wearing their seatbelts. The Highway was closed for about one hour, while clearing operations and preliminary investigation took place in the area.

No additional information has been released, as the investigation continues.
