Drivers Injured in Fresno County Fatal Collision
Fresno County, CA (March 28, 2023) – On Sunday, 47-year-old Ruben Rodriguez of Antioch sustained fatal injuries in a fiery 3-vehicle crash on Highway 180.
The California Highway Patrol says the collision unfolded just after 8:30 p.m. near South Sonoma Avenue.
According to the authorities, Rodriguez was driving a westbound Chevy when he swerved to the left and crossed over the center line. His vehicle sideswiped a Mustang traveling in the opposite direction and then collided head-on with a Toyota.
The Chevy burst into flames and Rodriguez was ejected from his car.
A CHP helicopter airlifted Rodriguez to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Moreover, the other drivers in the other cars, a 40-year-old Mendota man and a 44-year-old Bakersfield woman, were also transported to the hospital with major injuries but officers expect them to survive.
Investigating officers believe Rodriguez and the Toyota driver were not wearing seatbelts during the accident.
CHP is still investigating the Fresno County fatal collision.
