Ruben Mendez Dead in San Diego Pedestrian Crash on South 45th Street

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 2, 2020) – Tuesday night, 81-year-old Ruben Mendez died in a hit-and-run accident on 45th Street in San Diego.
 
San Diego Police Officer John Buttle said that the incident occurred just before 8:25 p.m. Moreover, the fatal crash took place on South 45th Street and Logan Avenue.
 
According to Buttle, the pedestrian crossed Logan Avenue north in a crosswalk when the car hit him. Afterward, the vehicle veered onto eastbound Logan Avenue from southbound South 45th Street.
 
The suspect driver escaped, and some witnesses last saw him heading east on Logan Avenue.
 
Meanwhile, the elderly man sustained a skull fracture and required hospitalization. Unfortunately, at 12:17 a.m., Mr. Mendez died at the hospital.
 
Moreover, the authorities are continuing the investigation.
