1 Dead in Los Angeles Car Crash on Sepulveda Boulevard
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 30, 2020) – A 61-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run crash on Sepulveda Boulevard on January 28.
Authorities arrested Ilya Foks, an alleged homeless person, around 1:30 a.m. in the 8300 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard, near Roscoe Boulevard, in Los Angeles’ North Hills neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division revealed.
Foks reportedly drove a stolen 2019 BMW M4 westbound on Sunset Boulevard near Douglas Street and Dodger Stadium around 7:45 a.m. He then steered into the eastbound lanes of Sunset Boulevard and collided head-on into a 2004 Toyota Corolla, before fleeing on foot without helping the victim.
Medical responders transported the Toyota driver to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Authorities identified the deceased as 61-year-old Rosa Garcia of Los Angeles, according to police.
Sgt. D. Steussie of the LAPD’s Central Traffic Division confirmed that the BMW was stolen and detectives determined the suspect because he left his wallet and driver’s license behind.
Authorities booked him at Metropolitan Detention Center on $50,000 bail for vehicular manslaughter.
