One Injured in Newberry Spring Fatal Crash
Newberry Spring, CA (December 7, 2022) – At about 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, Ronald Matson, 60, a Winchester man, dies in an Interstate 40 rollover crash.
The crash took place on the westbound freeway a mile after Desert Oasis Rest Area, involving a black BMW x series SUV
Officers said the BMW lost control of the vehicle at an unknown speed. As a result, it veered to the center divider and rolled over multiple times. The vehicle landed on its wheels near the fast lane on the eastbound side.
Immediately, the paramedics’ Mercy Air #66 one victim with critical injuries.
Sadly, Ronald Matson died at the scene.
One person was transported by Mercy Air #66. The helicopter airlifted from the scene to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition.
